Pokemon Go Gen 6: When Will It Be Released?

As Go Fest 2020 is winding down, we are looking forward to the future and what’s next.

In this article, we do our best to speculate what the best of the internet has guessed as to when Pokemon Go Gen 6 will be released.

Pokemon Go Gen 6 Release Date

Assuming Niantic follows suit from years past, the initial thought 💭 from the Go community is sometime before Halloween:

  • Pokemon GO Release Date: July 6, 2016
  • Pokemon GO Gen 2: February 17, 2017
  • Pokemon GO Gen 3: October 20, 2017
  • Pokemon GO Gen 4: October 16, 2018
  • Pokemon GO Gen 5: September 16, 2019

There are a few reasons to believe Gen 6 will be released prior to Halloween. One reason is that the Halloween event in Pokemon Go is generally one of the most popular during each year.

Along with a bunch of ghost pokemon, releasing gen 6 pokemon like Honedge would be a safe guess to show up during the event.

How many Pokemon are in Gen 6?

There are 72 pokemon in Generation 6. With all release dates so far, we should expect to see around 25% of this generation being released on the official date.

Also, we shouldn’t expect Niantic to release all pokemon from previous generations before Generation 6 makes it debut. They have shown in the past they’re not afraid of releasing ahead of schedule while holding onto certain pokemon from previous generations.

Is Sylveon in Pokemon Go?

With the release of Gen 6 in PoGo coming very soon, there are alot of trainers wondering about the Eevee evolution, Sylveon.

Sylveon will be a popular pokedex grab if the ‘one-time naming trick’ for the previous generations still holds true.
